An organic red blend from one of the Loire Valley's northernmost appellations. The wine is driven by the features of its predominate variety, Pineau d'Aunis, providing tart, stemmy cherry and black pepper aromas. This wine has a pronounced, pleasing note of chicory on the mid-palate. Small production, fermented with native yeasts and vegan friendly.
From the mouth of the importer (VOS):
"The AOP of Côteaux du Vendômois was officially formed in 2001, but the history of wine production goes back as far as the 11th century. There is a large cooperative producing 60% of total AOP production and only 13 private producers in the appellation.
This cuvée is a blend of 60% Pineau d’Aunis, 30% Pinot Noir and 10% Cabernet Franc, from vines that average 25 year old. The grapes are harvested at the beginning of October. Fermented and aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks. Aromas of red fruits and spices. Silky on the palate, with good structure and balance. 12.3% alcohol. 833 cases produced."
