Beautiful combination of autumnal spice, purple floral aromatics, dark fruit and solid tannic structure. A rustic Nebbiolo that is approachable young yet able to age gracefully. Most of the grapes are from vines over 40 years old, but some from young plantings in the renowned Boscareto Barolo vineyard. Organic farming and natural yeasts. Aged 70% in steel tanks and 30% in large oak casks, bottled unfiltered and with only a tiny dose of sulfur, the only use of the preservative the wine sees.
From the mouth of the importer (Indie Wines):
"The name “Principiano” has held the same spot on the map of Serralunga di Alba since 1700 A.D. The modern estate was founded back in the 1950‘s by Americo Principiano, Ferdinando’s father. It wasn’t until 1993 that all of the holdings were finally converted to vineyards, until then it was a mixed agriculture farm. Ferdinando advised his father Americo that focusing on wine production was the right move. It was in the midst of the Barolo Renaissance."
