Austria is in many ways the epicenter of the natural wine movement and Alexander Koppitsch is among the winemakers there adhering to the philosophy of biodynamics. His Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) is grown like all his grapes without any additives in the field and harvested according to Rudolf Steiner's philosophy.
From he mouth of the importer (Jenny & Francois):
"Grapes are hand harvested and left as whole bunches. The grapes are pressed after a couple of days on the skins, and the juice ferments slowly in a 225-liter 8 year-old-barrels for as long as 10 months with no temperature control, where they are left sitting outside in the yard with only wild yeast. Battonage is performed on the wine about once a month. The wine is unfiltered and unfined and has zero added sulfur."
