A balanced Californian Cabernet, leaner and less bombastic than many contemporaries. Mount Eden Vineyards is a classic of Californian winemaking, having some of the older plantings around and premier sites. This is from their second property, still in the Santa Cruz Moountains and is a blend based on Cabernet Sauvignon. The remainder comports to a Left Bank blend of 16% Merlot 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Franc and 1% Malbec. Fermented with native yeasts, aged half and half in French and American oak with 10% being new, then bottled with no filtering.

"The second property from California legend, Mount Eden, this vineyard sits on a neighboring ridge in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Formerly the Cinnebar property, developed by Tom Mudd in the early 1980's, Mount Eden purchased this vineyard and winery in 2007 and has been using it to produce these oustanding values. Produced using the same methods as their flagship Mount Eden label, these wines express another exciting terroir and another chapter of winemaking in the Santa Cruz Mountains."
